DID YOU KNOW?
In the U.S. there are two childhood vaccines that use stem cells taken from aborted babies.
1. MMR (measles mumps and rubella)
If this is news to you, read on and don't feel bad. This is one of the health care industries dirty little secrets. My wife and I are both Catholic Registered Nurses and never heard of this until we heard it on an EWTN radio talk show. It's time to wake up all of our fellow Christians and start pushing the drug manufacturers into making alternative vaccines. We have let them get away with too much already.
Here are some of the facts:
In the early 1960s Dr. Leonard Hayflick collected lung tissue taken from a therapeutically aborted female baby. She was about 3 months gestational age. Her stem cells were given the name WI-38 and her cell line was started.
In the mid 1960s J.P. Jacobs collected lung tissue from a 14 week gestational age male baby aborted for psychiatric reason from an otherwise physically healthy woman. This baby's stem cells were named MRC-5 and his cell line was started.
RA 27/3 (RA273) is the name given to the rubella virus cells taken from an infected aborted baby.
These are the manufacturers and stem cell lines used to this day in your children's vaccines:
For the MMR (measles mumps and rubella):
RA273 and WI-38 stem cell lines are used.
Meruvax II, MR-VAX, BiavaxII and MMRII (all manufactured by Merck and Company)
Priorix and Erolalix (manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals)
For the chickenpox vaccine:
RA273 and WI-38 was used in
Varivax and MMR-V (manufacturer Merck and Company)
WI-38 or MRC-5 was used in Varilix (manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals)
What does the Church say?
Pope Benedict said in 2008 Dignitas Personae “everyone has the duty to make known their disagreement and to ask that their healthcare system make other types of vaccines available.” and "...there is a duty to refuse to use such “biological material” even when there is no close connection between the researcher and the actions of those who performed the abortion.”
